Draft → preview → publish → roll back
Every boost starts as a draft (Save as draft). Under Test & history, Preview cost vs. history replays it against your last 12 months of orders and shows the cost month by month, how many orders it would have matched, and how many distinct customers it would have rewarded. Publish puts it live. Editing a live boost (Save changes as a draft) makes a new version; publishing that retires the previous one. Under Earlier versions, Go back to this one puts a retired version back live in one click — the newer one retires, and the activity log records it.
Conflict detection
Publishing is blocked while any of these stand (an explicit Publish anyway overrides):
- Double reward — another live boost would pay on the same orders.
- Budget overrun — the 12-month replay issues more than the boost's Total budget.
- Margin guardrail — issued value would exceed your chosen share of gross margin (Hold changes that give away more than (% of profit), 50% by default, under Settings → Programme rules in Advanced).
Second approval
With Changes that give members more need a second person on (Settings → Programme rules, under Advanced), anything that raises what members get — a higher earn rate, a brand-new boost, longer expiry, looser caps, richer tiers, bigger referral rewards, bigger bonuses, starting a campaign — goes to Approvals instead of going live. It applies to everyone, owners and admins included, and the requester cannot approve their own change. If nobody else on the team could approve it, you're asked to sign in again instead and the activity log records it. Lowering, pausing and switching things off never wait. Everything is audited.
Restoring an older version
Every publish, tier change and settings save is kept as a programme version. On Boosts, open Advanced tools: Change history lists them, and the Restore button beside one puts the whole programme back the way it was. A restore is treated like any other change: if it would make the programme more generous than what is live now, it waits for a second approver. Programme settings — including the approval and sign-in safeguards themselves — are only brought back when an owner or admin restores; when someone else restores, the rules and tiers come back and the settings stay as they are. Loosening a safeguard by restoring needs the same fresh sign-in as loosening it directly.
Holdouts: measure what the programme adds
Switch on Keep a comparison group (Settings → Programme rules, under Advanced) to keep a random slice (Comparison group size (%), 10 by default) of new members out of the programme: their orders record revenue but they never earn. On Reports, Programme members vs your comparison group (all time) compares net revenue per member across the two groups and estimates the programme's incremental gross margin before reward cost: the extra margin the programme drives, not its profit. Set it against rewards redeemed and your plan fee to see the net. Comparison groups are a plan feature.
