Your programme's currency

Your programme runs in your store's currency — set at install, changeable until the first points, then locked. Plus number formats.

Updated 2026-09-27

Your programme runs in one currency: your store's. Every amount you set or see — tier spend, reward values, spending limits, campaign budgets, reports and exports — is in that currency, and members see it the same way on their rewards page and in their emails. Any currency your store sells in works: rupees, dollars, euros, pounds, dirhams, yen and the rest.

Where it comes from

  • Shopify stores — when you install the app, the programme takes your Shopify store's currency automatically. There is nothing to choose.
  • Not on Shopify? The currency is picked when your programme is created. If it's wrong, change it yourself before anything is earned (below), or ask us.

The ready-made starter tiers are set in your currency too, converted from our rupee defaults at an approximate rate and rounded to friendly amounts — a US store gets a round dollar figure, not something like $117.65. Change them to whatever suits your prices under Earning & tiers.

Changing it — only before the first points

Open Settings → Programme rules → Currency. While your programme has no points and no orders yet, you can pick any currency there and save. Amounts you have already typed in (rewards, limits, budgets) are not converted — there is no honest exchange rate for a loyalty programme — so check them afterwards. The ready-made starter tiers are the exception: if you haven't changed them, they are converted for you.

Connecting a Shopify store to a programme that has no points or orders yet switches it to the store's currency automatically.

Once the first points are earned or the first order arrives, the currency is locked. Every balance, tier threshold and report is stored in it, so switching would silently turn ₹500 into $500. There is no way to change it after that, for us either. If your Shopify store changes its currency later, its orders stop earning until the store is switched back — so change the store's currency back in Shopify.

Number format

On the same card, Number format decides where the commas and decimal point go — 12,34,567.89 in India, 1,234,567.89 in the US. It only changes how amounts look, so you can change it any time, even after the currency is locked. "Best match for the currency" is right for most stores.

Good to know

  • Amounts are shown to two decimal places at most. Currencies with no decimals, like the yen, show whole amounts; the few with three decimals are rounded to two.
  • Your StickyTier plan is billed in rupees for Indian stores and in US dollars for everyone else, whatever currency your programme runs in — see Plan & billing.
  • Through the API, send amounts in your programme's currency. An order sent in a different currency is refused with a clear error rather than earning the wrong amount — see the developer documentation.
